BUILDING TECHNOLOGY


The department of Building Technology aims at cultivating the ability of students to think critically, conduct research and draw logical conclusion while at the same time expressing their thoughts effectively, with the overall intention of providing them with learning experiences to position them to serve and function in a dynamic global environment. Technology has made construction sites safer and workers more efficient. It has allowed us to increase productivity, improve collaboration, and tackle more complex projects. The course trains students in constructing, deconstructing, reconstructing, renovating, altering, demolishing and maintaining or repairing building and construction works.

BUSSINESS DEPARTMENT


We offer courses beginning from Certificate to Diploma levels. Entrepreneurship Education, information Communication technology and Communication Skills is taught in all KNEC courses and examined at Module 1. Performance in national Examinations has been good. Certificate level students proceed to Diploma Level. We have also introduced Diploma in Child Care and Protection which is examined by KNEC. We offer Diploma and Certificate courses in Business Management, human resource and Sales and Marketing. We encourage any potential student who is interested in joining a middle level college to try the various courses in our institute. We offer diploma in Cooperative management which takes Three years. We have a serene learning environment and are a centre for KNEC and KASNEB examinations.

ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS


The department of Electrical and Electronics started soon when the school was established having considered the high demand of Engineers. The mission of the department is to be globally recognized as a dynamic Engineering, Energy and the Built Environment School that produces creative, innovative and resourceful intellectuals with an ethos towards life-long learning that will contribute towards the creation of knowledge based society. Having an electronics certification can open the door to new career opportunities. These opportunities include jobs as an electronics technician, electronics engineer, electronics sales associate and home theater installation technician.

INFORMATICS AND COMPUTING


HOD: Mr David Kaleng The department of Information Technology specializes in equiping students with skills and knowledge relevant for diverse market. We focus on empowering graduates to professional utilise IT for the porpose of innovation and organisational growth. The program goal is to develop ICT specialists capable of providing ICT business solutions and enhance organizational efficiency. Other services like; Computer Service Technician. Database Engineer. Hardware Engineer. Web Designer. ICT Support Specialist. IT Service Desk Analyst. IT Product Manager. Technical Analyst.

LIBERAL STUDIES


Department of Liberal Studies, formally Information Studies, was established after restructuring of departments in 2021 to train Diploma in Technical Trainer Education(DTTE). Liberal Studies department encompass the following study areas: information science & information Literacy which (replaced Library user Education), Social work & Community Development, English & other Languages, and Communication Media, Initially Information Studies was a section under the Department of Library services offering Library User Education (LUE) services to the clientele of Kenya School of TVET. The section was referred to as the Instructor Development Section. Its main Objective was to provide Library User Instructions to Technical Education students during the first three months of their course. In January 1995, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) posted trained staff in Library and information science, for the first time, to teach Library User Education as a course of study. In 2001, the department started offering Diploma in Library and Information studies. Later the Department of library services was split into two; Department of library services (non academic) and Department of information studies (academic).
